Great write up as always. Just thinking though; is it really important for a start-up business to have an office? Giving the fact that almost every service can be discussed and negotiated via phone conversations or online platforms as suggested in this article.
Hi and thanks for your comment. About your question however, having an office is a great thing to do for every business. But for a start-up business, if the funds are not very much available yet and the business can actually still get patronage without an office, then one can hold on until funds come.
The truth is that, many potential clients or customers would trust a business more when they know it has an office. To them, it shows that the business is real and come what may, there is an official place to go meet the business at, just in case things don’t go as smoothly as desired.
But more importantly, your office doesn’t necessarily have to be elaborate. You can actually carve a space from you apartment or convert your room into an office for a start. As money comes and the business is progressing, you can then get a proper space for an office.
Well said. Thanks.
Nice article. This is insightful.
Thank you Mr. Bolaji. We appreciate you.
Hi, please permit me to ask this; what are the possible disadvantages of having a one-page website instead of a website with many pages. I ask because in the light of selling convenience to one’s customers, budget is still a factor to consider. So before one invests in a website that will latter pose challenges its important that one knows well enough.
Thanks.
Hi James,
Thanks for your question. A one page website is as much a website as those with multiple pages actually. However, there are some advantages which the later has over the former. When it comes to SEO which of course is a big deal for every online business, multi-page websites are advantageous. This is because most of the time, a business will need to rank her website for more than one keyword.
This becomes unrealistic if only a page is to be used to create enough content for the necessary keywords. With multiple pages however, more and more contents can be continually created around the needed keywords so as to ensure that Google and other search engines recognize the website as an authority in relation to the needed keywords. Social sharing, which is really important to SEO is more effective with multiple pages as well. This is because different aspects of the website can be shared separately to create more user engagement.
User experience wise also, if a business has lots of information to display on her website, multiple pages will be better. This is because, having too much information on just one page sometimes could make the page-load-speed slow and the information overwhelming. In all, before one concludes, it might be good to evaluate the business, her information and website purpose before deciding which approach is best.
